What are you Prioritising?

What are you Prioritising?

I genuinely had to do a double take at the calendar last week when I realised it was the beginning of March. On one hand, I’m delighted, the brighter evenings are creeping in. On the other, I could swear it was Christmas five minutes ago.

I keep hearing people say the same thing lately: time is flying.

And it really does feel that way sometimes.

Life can move faster than we can keep up with. Between work, responsibilities and everything else that fills our days, it’s so easy to get swept along. Then suddenly you look up and it’s two, three, six months later and you’re not quite sure where the time went.

The truth is, life is short. And time goes especially quickly when we’re busy. But being busy doesn’t automatically mean we’re living well. Often it just means we’re ticking off tasks, moving from one thing to the next without stopping to ask how much of it actually matters to us.

That’s why, every now and then, it’s important to pause.

Even a few minutes to check in with yourself can make a difference. Where is your energy going? Are the things you’re prioritising helping you feel well, stay healthy and function at your best? Or are you putting everything and everyone else first and leaving yourself and what matters to you at the bottom of the list?

Prioritising isn’t about getting everything “right.” It’s not about perfection. It’s about being intentional. Making space for what genuinely matters to you, whether that’s your well-being, your relationships, your creativity or simply time to breathe.

Sometimes it looks very ordinary.

Saying no to something that drains you so you can go for a walk or eat a proper meal.

Choosing an evening of real connection instead of scrolling on your phone.

Putting small habits in place – better sleep, a bit of movement, a proper break – that quietly support your health.

They’re small choices. But they add up.

And when we know we’re putting our energy, as much as we can, into what matters, the fact that time moves quickly feels less frightening. Because at least we know we’re spending it well.

So this week, take a moment. Look at your week. Ask yourself gently:

Am I prioritising what matters?
Or am I just busy?

One small shift is often enough to change the direction.
